How I Choose the Right Hotel for You

A question I get all the time is, “How do you figure out what hotels or resorts to suggest?”
Here’s a quick look at what actually happens behind the scenes when I’m narrowing down your options. Spoiler alert: it’s not random, and it’s definitely not based on pretty pictures.
I Start with YOU Not the Destination

Before I even open a single hotel tab, I review my notes from our conversation about this trip and look back at what I’ve booked for you in the past so I can focus on your priorities.
• Who is traveling and what matters most
• The vibe you want. Relaxed, lively, romantic, family-focused, adults-only
• How you like to spend your time. Beach, food, culture, spa, activities
• What you loved or didn’t love about past trips
This is why two clients going to the same destination almost never get the same hotel list.
Location is EVERYTHING

Then, I spend a lot of time zooming in and out on Google Maps! I look at:
• Proximity to the experiences you care about
• Ease of transportation and safety
• Beach quality, walkability, or access to key sites
• Whether you’ll feel stuck or have flexibility
Convenience saves time, but a great hotel in the wrong location is still the wrong hotel.
Filtering Through My Trusted Partners

I don’t just search the internet. I work with preferred suppliers and partners I trust. • Reliable service and consistent guest experience
• Strong support if anything goes sideways
• Added perks, upgrades, and VIP touches when available
• Properties with solid management and strong reputations
This is one of the biggest differences between DIY and working with an advisor.
I Review CURRENT Guest Feedback

Not just reviews from five years ago. I’m looking at what guests are saying right now.
• Cleanliness, service, and food quality
• Renovations or construction
• Changes in management or standards
• Consistency across recent feedback
Trends matter more than one bad or glowing review.
Evaluating Value vs Price

The lowest rate rarely equals the best experience. I compare:
• What is included and what is not across different properties and suppliers • Room categories and views • Resort or hidden fees • Overall experience versus cost
My goal is to make sure you feel your investment was worth every dollar.
Finalizing Your Proposal

Instead of overwhelming you with endless options, I send a curated, short list that actually makes sense.
• Usually 2 to 4 strong choices that reflect you and the destination
• These options will meet different needs, along with a safe choice that checks most of the boxes
If you’ve ever wondered why I ask so many questions before recommending a hotel, now you know. Those answers help me build your trip with intention.
