How to Plan a More Enjoyable Vacation

Every destination has something new to offer—and I’ve learned that even the most seasoned travelers can benefit from a few reminders when planning their next adventure.
Here are a few tried-and-true tips to help you make the most of your time without running yourself ragged.
Know Your Travel Style

Are you a planner who thrives on a well-organized itinerary? Or do you crave the freedom to follow your whims and wander where the day takes you? Most of us fall somewhere in between.
Before you even start building your itinerary, take a moment to reflect on your travel style and your ideal vacation vibe. That awareness helps ensure your trip feels right for you—not like a checklist you have to get through.
Don't Fill Every Minute

Even if you’re heading to an exciting destination (hello, Disney lovers—I see you!), I always recommend leaving at least one open day for rest or spontaneous exploration.
Slowing down for just one day can work wonders. It gives you a chance to settle in, soak up the surroundings, and let your vacation feel like a vacation—not a race.
Pace Yourself

It’s tempting to try and do it all. But if you’re rushing from one thing to the next, it’s easy to miss the magic in the moments between.
Think about how much time you'll actually need to get from place to place, enjoy each activity, and really take it all in. That kind of thoughtful pacing helps you stay energized and present throughout your entire trip.
Prioritize What Matters Most

Let’s be honest—you might not get to see everything in one trip. And that’s okay. The good news? You can always go back.
Start by listing your must-see spots first. Once those are locked in, you can layer in the “nice-to-haves.” That way, your itinerary is centered around what excites you most—and you won’t leave feeling like you missed out.
Build In Buffer Time

Traffic, lines, or unexpected delays can happen no matter where you’re headed. And while those moments might feel frustrating in the moment, they often lead to the best stories and unexpected discoveries.
By planning a little wiggle room into your schedule, you give yourself the freedom to stay flexible and savor the experience rather than stress over the clock.
The truth is, a great vacation isn’t about how much you do—it’s about how you feel while you're doing it.
So, wherever your next adventure takes you, remember to slow down, tune in, and truly enjoy the journey. And if you need a little help planning a trip that fits your style perfectly, I'm ready when you are. Email me here to get planning today.
