As we dive into part two of our long car ride survival series, let’s talk about even more ways to make the journey as smooth as possible. Whether you’re embarking on an exciting road trip or heading to see loved ones, spending hours on the road can bring challenges. Here are more tips and tricks to keep everyone comfortable, entertained, and stress-free—making the ride as enjoyable as reaching your destination!

1.  Prepare a Car-Friendly First Aid Kit

• Include the Basics: Stock it with band-aids, pain relievers, allergy medicine, gastro intestinal meds and hand sanitizer.

• Motion Sickness Relief: If anyone is prone to motion sickness, pack ginger candies, motion sickness bands, or even medication if needed.

2.  Plan for the Unexpected

• Check Your Route in Advance: Check for any expected delays, detours, or tolls. Have alternate routes ready in case of unexpected issues.

• Download Travel Apps: Be sure to download AAA or your car's roadside assistance app and have the phone number in your contacts.  Also download iExit so you can see what is available at each upcoming exit.

• Prepare for Emergencies: Always have jumper cables, a flashlight, and a roadside assistance plan. It’s peace of mind for any long trip.

3.  Keep Kids Engaged with Activities

• Create Travel Bags: For kids, a small bag with their favorite toys, coloring supplies, or puzzles can make the journey much smoother.

• Travel Journals: Give older kids a blank notebook and encourage them to document their trip. It’s a fun way to keep them busy and create memories.

• Get a PAPER map: This helps kids follow along the journey, and  you can make a game of finding the most interesting fact about the area if they're old enough for internet use.
