Cruise Myths I Gently Let Clients Keep Believing (And the Ones I Don’t)

Let’s clear something up right away. Not everything people believe about cruising needs to be corrected. Some myths are harmless, and honestly, they help people relax and get excited. Others, though, can quietly wreck a trip if no one steps in. That’s where I draw the line.
Here’s a peek behind the curtain at which cruise myths I let slide, and which ones I absolutely will not.
Myths I Gently Let Slide

“Cruises are totally stress-free.”
Are cruises easier than planning a land trip? Absolutely. Are they magically stress-proof? Not quite. But this belief usually puts people in the right mindset, so I let it live. My job is to smooth the rough edges behind the scenes so it feels true.
“Once I’m on the ship, everything will just work itself out.”
This one is mostly fine. The cruise line handles a lot, and that’s part of the appeal. I just quietly make sure the right dining, cabin, and logistics decisions are made before they board, so “it all works out” actually does.
"Any cabin is fine, I won’t be in it much.”
If someone really means this, great. If they don’t, I know it...even if they don’t yet. I might not argue, but I will guide them toward options that won’t cause regret at 2 a.m. when the ship starts moving, or the music is still blasting at the nightclub.
Myths I Do Not Let Stick Around

“All cruise lines are basically the same.”
Absolutely not. This is like saying all hotels or all restaurants are the same. The experience can feel wildly different depending on the line, the ship, and even the itinerary. This myth gets corrected fast because it affects everything; but luckily, I am an expert matchmaker, so you are in great hands!
"The cheapest option is the best deal.”
This one gets people into trouble. Price alone does not tell the full story, and sometimes it tells the wrong one. I walk clients through what’s included, what’s not, and what actually matters for their travel style. After all, it’s not what you start out spending, it’s what you end up spending that matters.
"I can figure it out later.”
Some things can wait. Others absolutely cannot. Dining preferences, cabin location, airfare strategy, and shore plans are much easier when handled early. This is where I step in and say, “Let’s do future you a favor.”
Why This Matters

My role isn’t to correct people for sport or overwhelm them with details. It’s to know which beliefs are harmless, which ones need adjusting, and when to step in so the vacation feels easy, fun, and worth it.
If you’ve ever wondered what working with a travel advisor actually looks like behind the scenes, this is a big part of it. Quiet guidance, thoughtful decisions, and knowing when to speak up.
If you’re thinking about a cruise and want help sorting out what really matters, I’m always happy to help. You bring the questions. I’ll handle the rest.
